Remodeling the Basement

Ashwin and I are really very happy with the added space of the basement which was remodeled recently.

We signed the contract with Flynn and Murphy Associates on April 8, 2006. The actual work began on April 11, 2006 and was supposed to be completed by April 28, 2006. But to my surprise, they were always ahead of the schedule and the work was completed by April 26th, 2006. It looks incredible! The new space includes a family room, a laundry room, home office and a storage room. We also have a pantry closet which gives us more storage area.

The carpeting was installed by Century Carpets. Again, a wonderful job at a very reasonable price! We went with the “healthy choice” pad which not only feels good, but also prevents mold and mildew. I would definitely recommend it to those who are looking into getting carpet installed.

Both Ashwin and I can’t wait to start using our new space. It’s time for some furniture shopping!!!

I am going to post some pictures soon. Stay tuned…

Cheers.

Old at 25…

April first, Fool’s day, also happens to be my birthday… I turn 25 today… That’s a milestone… I am finally one quarter of a century old… Cheers…

Being born on April’s fool day is actually a fun thing… Imagine inviting about 50 people for a birthday party and having to spend money on food for only 25 because the other half would not show up… You can almost assume that… This is no joke… This has practically happened… Many a times, my parents would host a birthday party for me and only a handful of invitees would show up… That also sometimes means fewer gifts :(

I was born on a Fool’s day at 7:02 a.m. Phone calls were made from the hospital to close family and friends… “It’s a baby girl…” Hours pass by and no one shows up at the hospital… Round two of phone calls… “We’re not kidding… the baby is really here…” It took a lot of convincing to finally have them belive my parents.

Today, i turn 25!!! I had a wonderful birthday. I got the gift of food… Nothing can make me happier… :) And, I got to spend an evening with my loved ones, my husband Ashwin, my father-in-law and my brother-in-law. We went out to TGI Fridays.

Another year of good fortune. A few years back, I made a wish and it came true in the form of “Ashwin”. I thank God for everything I have. I am making another wish tonight and hopefully it’ll come true in the near future…

Thanks to everyone who made my day special… Your warm wishes are appreciated…

Cheers…
